Memories 1
- Tonpi came into my life in September on my birthday back in 1994. My friends and fellow dormmates took me out on a roadtrip where we ended up at a animal shelter and I was then tol,d to pick out a cat. He was the friendliest of them, all big eyed and curious. He had the cutest nose. As we drove away with him in the carrier box (and it was a cardboard box) he kept trying to jump out and see what was going on- that was when I named him Tobisuke which was shortened to Tonpi.
- He always had things to do and people to play with back in the dorm. I lived in a quad with three others, but there were often far more than that at any time. He would run up and nuzzle people as they came in and then would run back to the large floor-to-ceiling windows so he could watch out towards the green quad and see the students walk by.
- He would do this loop around the living room where he would run at full tilt on the outside rim of the room. When he approached the large sofa (named 'Nastassja ' after 'Nastassja Kinski ') he would flip himself upsidedown (still at full tilt) and latch onto the bottom of the sofa. He would then scamper the length of the sofa (hanging from its underside) and exit the other side. He would flip himself right side up and then take the corner to launch himself at the loveseat. The rest of the circuit was pretty uneventful but he would cycle through this several times till he tired himself out.
